After 12 years of intensive research and development, Gaudry Normand invented a new therapeutic and musical instrument: in 2011 the crystal harp was born! Since then we have trademarked this wonderful invention as the Quartzophone instrument. Gaudry holds multiple patents on both the mechanisms and the designs: that means it is unique in the world! We make these instruments carefully and precisely by hand - and with love - in our workshop located in Bonsecours, Quebec, Canada.
Quartzophone® crystal harps are composed of pure quartz crystal tubes (99.9% SiO2), suspended on an acrylic or wooden frame. Quartz crystal is a natural, noble material that possesses an immense vibratory capacity. This revolutionary instrument has a special timbre, which distinguishes it from any other musical instrument (including the imitations, see FAQ). Tapping on several tubes generates powerful, crystalline tones: complementary frequencies create a pure, resonant, omnidirectional sound bath. The acoustic, musical and therapeutic potential of this instrument is immense!

Our patented system allows the tubes to oscillate freely, and yet remain exactly centred between the pins. For example, there are continuous strings with an angular (zigzag) pattern, slender metal pins to perfectly support strings and tubes, and tension-adjusting keys or screws. With a few light taps, one consistently creates celestial, long-lasting, pure tones with rich vibrato!
